Founded in 2003 and registered as a charity in 2004, Childreach International began its life as Global Development Links (GDL). GDL was an entirely voluntary organisation run by individuals passionate about international development that worked hard to provide communities with the resources they needed to pull themselves out of poverty.
Amongst our initial supporters from the very start were Rt Hon Stephen Timms, University of East London and the British high commissioner's office of Tanzania. In August 2007 we changed our name to Childreach International to reflect the fact that our work was benefiting children and youths in poor communities, often places where other international non governmental organisations (NGO's) had forgotten. In the last 12 months our organisation has grown rapidly as the demand for our work spreads through word of mouth from community to community. We have set ourselves some ambitious goals over the coming 12 months and forged some high profile and effective partnerships in our countries of operation to help realise our vision. None of this would have been possible without all the thousands of supporters that have donated, fundraised or volunteered over the last 5 years for our organisation. Our thanks go out to all of you who have helped.
