Introduction
The birth place of the first great civilization barely needs an introduction. Egypt, famous for its hustle and bustle, meandering souks and vast desert, offers a land rich in culture, heritage and history. The Giza pyramids, the Great Sphinx and the Valley of the Kings are just some of the ancient wonders Egypt boasts.
Childreach International is challenging you to a marathon unlike any other. Our Egypt marathon challenge will take you out of your comfort zone and deep into the Valley of the Kings, a place which echoes the legacies of a fallen ancient civilization.
You’ll fundraise here in the UK, with the full support of our dedicated fundraising team, before heading out to Egypt to complete the 26.2 mile run. The money you raise will fund our projects and help improve children’s access to healthcare, education and human rights around the world.
The running route chases the west bank of the great Blue Nile and is surrounded by tombs built by the pharaohs of Egypt. If you’re ready for a once in a lifetime experience then you’re ready to run the Valley of the  Kings.
As well as the marathon, we offer every participant the chance to explore Egypt. You’ll visit Cairo, the country’s capital, venturing through exotic markets and journeying to the Great Sphinx and one of the Seven Wonders of the World - the Pyramids of Giza.
Finally, unlike other marathons, you’ll visit a community development project and see first-hand the difference your fantastic fundraising efforts are making.
Itinerary
The basic itinerary, as provided by Childreach International for the Egypt Marathon is outlined below.
- Day 1 ( 24thJan) – Flight from London Heathrow to Cairo
- Day 2 (25th Jan) – Cairo- Visit Pyramids of Giza
- Day 3 (26th Jan) – Run- Project Visit- Sleeper Train to
 Luxor
- or
- Day 3 (26th Jan) – Run- Project Visit- Flight to Luxor- Hotel stay
- Day 4 (27th Jan) – Registrations and Rest Day
- Day 5 (28th Jan) – Marathon Run - Celebration and Gala Dinner
- Day 6 (29th Jan) – Rest Day and Fly back to UK
When Is It?
Egypt Marathon groups will be departing from the UK on the 24th January and returning on the 29th January 2011.
